First Missionary Baptist Church leads the charge on the Clarksville Community Wide Trip to Washington DC from June 22nd to June 26th. The trip was originally supposed to be a FMBC Youth Group venture until the church partnered with the LEAP Organization to open it up to the Clarksville Community.
“I applaud the efforts of the FMBC Youth Advisers who have worked diligently behind the scenes through fund raisers and seeking sponsors to alleviate the financial burden that some of the youth experience in being able to participate in this venture” say LEAP Founder Richard “Reason” Garrett.
Despite some of the confusion as to whether this was a FMBC or LEAP youth trip, Youth Adviser Kenneth Bennett of Bennett’s Photography commented, “Ultimately its about the kids and when it stops being about the kids then those parties involved really need to sit down and evaluate their motives.”
The purpose of this trip is to provide our youth with an opportunity to journey through our past and see history in the making through an historical and relevant tour of the Capitol.
Washington, D.C. is filled with exciting and memorable places to visit. We intend to expose the youth a myriad of activities such as performances at the National Theaters, the National Gallery of Art, the Smithsonian, several memorials and monuments, as well as the White House.
