Clarksville, TN – The Clarksville Street Department has closed Ashbury Road from Shannon Street to Shawnee Terrace because of high water. Also Shawnee Terrace is closed from Saratoga Road to Ashbury Road.
Street Department Director David Shepard said the street flooding is caused by a nearby sinkhole that fills with water during heavy rains. The closure is expected to continue overnight.
Earlier today Thomas Street at Riverside Drive was closed because of high water, and Shepard said the intersection may reopen this evening.
Street Department crews will pick up storm debris during the next two weeks. Residents must get the debris to the street curb and tree limbs should be cut in four-foot sections or less.
