Clarksville Parks and RecreationClarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.

This weeks highlights include: City hosts Warrior Week Military Appreciation Picnic, Movies in the Park features ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’, Friends of Fort Defiance Gear up for Annual Fundraising Event and New City concert series kicks off June 21st.

City hosts Warrior Week Military Appreciation Picnic

The City of Clarksville will once again, proudly host the Warrior Week military appreciation picnic for Fort Campbell soldiers and their families. The picnic will be held on Saturday, June 14th, from 1:00pm to 5:00pm at Heritage Park, 1241 Peachers Mill Road, Clarksville.

Military personnel and their families are invited to participate in activities, win prizes, play on inflatables, partake of picnic food and much more! The picnic is free, but attendees are required to show a military ID for entrance.

Movies in the Park features ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark’

Movies in the Park, the City’s free, outdoor movie series, continues Saturday, June 14th, at Heritage Park, 1241 Peachers Mill Road, Clarksville. ‘Raiders of the Lost Ark,’ rated PG, and brought to you by the Clarksville Area YMCA, will be shown at approximately 8:30pm (dependent on sunset). Activities begin at 7:30pm and include an obstacle course by the YMCA and a giant game of Capture the Flag by Clarksville Parks and Recreation, complete with golden idols.

Admission is free. Bring your own blankets and lawn chairs, as well as your appetite, since food vendors will be on-site. Arrive early to get a good seat and to participate in our pre-movie activities. Sorry, no pets or smoking allowed. Friends of Fort Defiance Gear up for Annual Fundraising Event

The Friends of Fort Defiance is excited to announce the date for this year’s March to the Past fundraising event: Saturday, June 14th from 10:00am to 5:00pm at the Fort Defiance Civil War Park and Interpretive Center.

Live demonstrations of quilting, firing, clothing, and medicine will be sure to give the community a clear depiction of the Civil War era. Along with these demonstrations, several games and activities for children will take place.

Be sure to bring your appetite as hot dogs and baked goods will be available for purchase to support Fort Defiance.

March to the Past is sponsored by Friends of Fort Defiance, Baxter’s Battery and Porter’s Battery.

New City concert series kicks off June 21st

The City of Clarksville’s Parks and Recreation Department will introduce a new, outdoor concert series on Saturday, June 21st, at Liberty Park, 1188 Cumberland Drive, Clarksville.

Liberty Live!, the new series, will kick off its season with Gypsy, a Fleetwood Mac tribute band. Concerts begin at 6:00pm and continue until 9:00pm. Two additional shows are scheduled for the season, including: Tina Brown on July 19th, and Chris Robertson on August 16th.

Admission is free and a beer and food vendor will be on-site.
