Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay women’s basketball team (6-13, 3-3 OVC) will look to extend its three-game win streak when it starts its longest Ohio Valley Conference homestand with a 3:00pm, Saturday contest against Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles (7-12, 4-2 OVC) at the Dunn Center.
The Lady Govs concluded their season’s longest road trip with three consecutive wins, including Monday’s 77-67 victory at SIU Edwardsville.Austin Peay built a 27-point lead – its largest of the season – and then held on against a SIUE charge. It was the first time since Feb. 26, 2006 (a span of 86 road outings) APSU has won three straight road games.
Austin Peay now turns its focus to ending a 10-game OVC losing streak at the Dunn Center. The Lady Govs last OVC victory at home came in the 2011-12 season finale, Feb. 25, 2012, against Southeast Missouri. APSU has lost its first two home OVC games this season, falling to Southeast Missouri and UT Martin to start the league campaign.
Tennessee Tech visits Clarksville after seeing its three-game win streak stopped by a 102-78 loss at UT Martin, Monday. The Golden Eagles are 2-1 against the West Division this season with home wins against SIUE (72-66) and Eastern Illinois (64-54) predating the loss at UT Martin.
Austin Peay Lady Govs
Austin Peay finished with a 3-0 mark in Illinois with wins against Southern Illinois, Eastern Illinois and SIUE. Austin Peay has three straight wins for the first time since March 2nd, 2011, ending a stretch of 78 games without three consecutive wins. It also is APSU’s first three-game OVC win streak since February 19th, 2011 (39 OVC games).
Austin Peay’s defense has held its last four opponents below 40 percent shooting, those teams combining to shoot 36.3 percent (95-of-262). Sophomore guard Tiasha Gray, has been APSU’s leading scorer in each of the last three games. Gray leads the Lady Govs in scoring (14.1 ppg) and assists (4.6 apg).
Austin Peay’s non-conference opponents have combined for a .553 win percentage this season and APSU’s non-conference strength of schedule ranks 53rd according to WBBState.com.
Tennessee Tech Golden Eagles
Tennessee Tech is 2-8 away from the Eblen Center this season, including a 1-2 road mark in OVC play. The Golden Eagles are the league’s second best rebounding unit with a +6.5 rebounding margin in OVC play. A large part of that advantage is due to TTU grabbing a league-best 41.9 percent of its own missed shots (95 offensive rebounds).
Junior guard Diamond Henderson leads the Golden Eagles (ranks 6th in OVC) with 17.7 points per game in league action. Henderson ranks 4th in the OVC at 18.4 points per game in all action this season.
An Austin Peay Win Would
End its 10-game home OVC losing streak that dates back to February 25th, 2012. Give it four consecutive wins for the first time since February 17th, 2011 (85 games). Be its first 4-game OVC win streak since February 19th, 2011 (41 OVC games).
Be its fourth OVC win this season, doubling last season’s OVC win total. End its 3-game losing streak to Tennessee Tech. Be its first home win vs. TTU since March 2nd, 2010 (2-game losing streak). Improve Daniels’ record to 86-151 overall and 56-77 in OVC action. Make the Lady Govs 439-623 overall since 1976-77.
Banks Is OVC Top Freshman Again
Thanks to a career-high 19-point outing at SIUE, January 20th, freshman Tearra Banks notched her third adidas® OVC Freshman of the Week honor, January 21st. She leads all OVC freshmen with the three honors this season.

Austin Peay pieced together its first three-game road win streak since the 2005-06 season with wins at Morehead State, Eastern Illinois and SIUE during a January 13th-20th span. The Lady Govs went 89 true road contests between three-game win streaks.
