Clarksville Tn – It’s been an big week for Clarksville’s Hand Family Companies. The Clarksville based beverage company was introduced as part of the new ownership group of the NBA’s Memphis Grizzlies on Monday, and today it was announced that their Budweiser of Memphis facility was growing.
Charles Hand announced earlier this week that his company had acquired West Tennessee Beverage Company LLC, an affiliate of Southwestern Distributing Company, and will operate the company out of his Budweiser of Memphis facility.
Southwestern Wine and Liquor Company was founded in 1939 by Alex Barzizza Sr. Southwestern started as a regional wine bottler and distributor and evolved into a premier distributor of spirits and wines, as well as a purveyor of premium high gravity beers, both imported and craft.
Southwestern, who was among one of the last independent Liquor wholesalers, had been acquired by Georgia Crown earlier in the year.
J R Hand, President and Chief Operating Officer, “We’re committed to the Memphis market. We’re delighted to add West Tennessee Beverage brands to our portfolio which will allow us to continue our growth in the Memphis market and become an even bigger presence in West Tennessee. As far as our customers go, the change will be seamless.”
Today, the Hand family owns and operates beverage distributorships in eight cities. Six are in Tennessee (Clarksville, Chattanooga, Cookeville, Knoxville, Lenoir City, and Memphis); two are in Kentucky (Hopkinsville and Owensboro).
Budweiser of Clarksville has been an active corporate partner in the Clarksville/Fort Campbell community, and continues to be involved in the communities they do business in.
