Montgomery County, TN – The Clarksville-Montgomery County Regional Planning Commission will meet today to discuss hiring a law firm to investigate a grievance against commissioner Mabel Larson.  Fellow planning commissioner Robert Nichols has informed board chairman Mike Harrison that he wants to know the following:

What is the desired outcome of these proceedings?

This investigation is to satisfy the grievance of John (Spainhoward) what is success from his point of view?

Can success be obtained by this commission?

What authority does the commissioners of the Regional Planning Commission have after the investigation and are we asked to make a decision?

These questions have never been addressed by the planning commission.  Spainhoward has never said what he wants from the grievance.  Ms Larson has not commented publicly about the claims.

Planning Commission board chairman Mike Harrison tried last week to end the controversy by pointing out that there is probably nothing that the commission can do.  On pressure from both Montgomery County Mayor Carolyn Bowers and Clarksville Mayor Kim McMillan, they wanted a “transparent” investigation before making any decisions.

Bowers and McMillan are not expected at today’s meeting, as both are on the inner-city visit to Iowa with a contingent of Clarksville-Montgomery County officials.

Clarksville City Attorney Lance Baker and Montgomery County Attorney Austin Peay are expected to recommend law firms for the planning commission to hire to handle the investigation.

Today’s meeting is at 4:00pm at the Regional Planning Commission and is open to the public.
