“Overall, it was a good meet for us,” head coach Doug Molnar said. “Our goal is to continue improving each week and I feel like we did that today.”
Austin Peay also had significant improvement in both hurdle events. In the 100-meter hurdles, Lauren Lyles finished inside the top 20 with a personal-best 14.51 time. Taelor Slaughter, meanwhile, had a top-15 finish in the 400-meter hurdles, also netting a personal-best 1:06.73 time.
Senior Tanesha Campbell inched closer to the Austin Peay discus record, earning an impressive second-place finish with a 42.66m mark. The school record stands at 43.42m, a mark seemingly within reach for Campbell. Nicole Bressner landed an APSU season-best 3.50m height in the pole vault, becoming the first Lady Govs vaulter to get over 3.21m this season.
“Taelor and Lauren both had good races in the hurdles,” Molnar said. “I’m confident that Taelor is going to get better with each race. I can already see where she’s getting the timing better each race. Tanesha is really close to the discus mark and Nicole had it going today. We have to keep it up next week.”
Austin Peay’s Chantelle Grey will run the 800-meters, Saturday, at the Sea Ray Relays to conclude the Lady Govs participation.
