Nashville, TN – The Nashville Predators hosted the Edmonton Oilers tonight and for the first fifty minutes, it was a back and forth affair.
The Predators fought back from a two goal deficit after the first period, then fought back from a one goal deficit and just when the game was tied 3-3 and you thought you were in for a wild finish, nobody expected what happened next.
Edmonton went on a five goal onslaught against the Predators, chasing Pekka Rinne from the game and embarrassing the home team with a final score of 8-3.
The first of a back-to-back series, Nashville will have to forget this one and get prepared to visit the Minnesota Wild tomorrow night. Nashville currently occupies the second spot in the wild-card slot of the Western Conference.Nashville goals came from Roman Josi, Callie Jarnkrok and Nick Bonino, but it was Edmonton that put on the offensive performance in this game.
Leon Draisaitl scored four goals for the Oilers, leading the way for the visiting team. Edmonton sits just above the Predators in the playoff hunt and solidified their grip on their quest to the Stanley Cup.
The Predators were coming off of a disappointing loss on Saturday night where a controversial penalty late in the game may have cost them the victory against Colorado.
It’s been an up and down season for the Predators to this point and they still have the opportunity to make the playoffs, but it will be a struggle to get there with games like this one.
