Brentwood, TN – Austin Peay State University (APSU) junior men’s basketball player Terry Taylor has been named Ohio Valley Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for a record-tying eighth time during the 2019-20 season.
In a tough week for the Govs as a group, Taylor was outstanding as an individual, posting two double-doubles including Austin Peay State University’s first 20-20 night since the 2016 season and just the 11th in Division I over the course of the 2019-20 campaign.
He posted 23 points and 14 boards against Tennessee State, then followed that with 26 points and a career-best 23 rebounds against Belmont; the rebound mark was the highest by an OVC player since Kenneth Faried (Morehead State, January 27th, 2011) and most by a Gov since at least the 1999-00 season.
Taylor has now tied Faried and Murray State’s Ja Morant for most individual OVC Player of the Week honors in a single season. To date, the junior is one of four players in Division I averaging 20 points (22.3) and 10 rebounds (10.4), with 1.2 blocks, 1.2 steals and shooting a 56.4 percent clip from the floor.
Taylor and the APSU Govs host arch rival Murray State in an 8:00pm, Thursday contest scheduled to be televised on ESPNU.
