To be eligible for the scholarship, students must have junior or senior standing and be enrolled full-time at the University. Acceptance into the APSU School of Nursing is also required.

Ann Ross was the manager of the Austin Peay State University Bookstore for 30 years. Following her retirement, the Ann Ross Bookstore was named to recognize her dedication to her work and to the University.

Lisa Ross was born in Clarksville on March 4th, 1954, to Ann Rollow Ross and the late Neil Macphail Ross. Lisa received her midwifery training at Mother’s Hospital in London, England, and completed a residency at Booth Maternity Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She also received a MPH degree from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She was qualified to work in both the United States and Europe.

Lisa had a vibrant career working as a certified nurse midwife for 21 years. She was involved in opening the first freestanding birth center in Monroe County, Tennessee, in 1983, at a time when birth centers were a new alternative in childbirth options. Beginning in 1994, she served as the director of nurse-midwifery of the Maternity Center of East Tennessee in Knoxville. Lisa passed away on December 14th, 1998, at the age of 44, after losing her battle with cancer.

“Lisa was highly regarded in her field, and she loved what she did,” Ann Ross said. “I hope that by assisting future generations of nursing students, I can continue her legacy of caring for others.”

Endowments are permanently restricted funds managed by the Austin Peay State University Foundation. The amount of each scholarship award may vary and will be determined based upon the value of the endowment and the Foundation spending plan.
