Portland, TN – On Wednesday, November 27th, 2019, the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) opened a new interchange on Interstate 65 at State Route 109, just south of the Kentucky state line, at mile marker 121.
The interchange is now open to traffic but the project completion, which includes final paving, is estimated for late spring 2020.
The $46.7 million interchange project also includes a new roadway alignment for SR 109 and widening US 31W from the new SR 109 intersection to the Kentucky border.

Motorists are encouraged to use caution and obey reduced speed limits in all TDOT work zones, regardless of lane closure activity. From now through spring 2019, the bridge at LM 9 will be reduced to one lane for repairs. Traffic will be controlled by a temporary signal.
