Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) Department of Theatre and Dance, along with artistic directors Eboné Amos and Margaret Rennerfeldt, will present the Fall Dance Concert Thursday, October 31st-Sunday, November 3rd, at the Trahern Theatre.
The show starts at 7:30pm Thursday-Saturday with matinee performances on Saturday and Sunday starting at 2:00pm.
APSU dance concerts are filled with talent and innovation that will inspire you to dance like no one’s watching. This year’s Fall Dance Concert will have two acts featuring the works of faculty members including Marcus Hayes, Kevin Bradley Loveland Jr., Amos and Rennerfeldt.
The pieces range from whimsically modern to in-your-face contemporary, featuring elements of modern, jazz, ballet and hip-hop.
Sunday’s audience will be treated to a third act featuring the senior BFA capstone projects of Kelly Barrios and Destiny Smith.
Barrios said her project, Headspace, “deals with the idea of wanting to fit in, struggling to accept yourself for who you are and coming to terms with your flaws and learning to embrace them.”
Smith said she “believes that a lot of dancers’ first interaction with dance comes from games we all play as children.” She used that idea as a starting point to create her pieces.
