Clarksville, TN – The Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s basketball 2019-20 roster is complete with the addition of Sita Conteh, a Sierra Leone native who played the last two seasons at Willison State College in North Dakota.
As a sophomore, Conte averaged 12.0 points, 4.4 rebounds and 1.3 steals while shooting 44.8 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from behind the arc and 71.8 percent from the foul line.
As a freshman, Conteh averaged 10.4 points and 5.1 rebounds while shooting 44.8 percent from the field and 74.2 percent from the line.
Conteh will bring size and versatility to the Govs, giving head coach Matt Figger another choice he can plug and play at myriad lineup spots. He’s also a unique player in that he can both step out and shoot the three and, at 6-8, offer rim-protection help.
“He’s long, he’s athletic and he should give us the ability to have better perimeter shooting,” Figger said. “He should give us some ability to move and block shots. It strengthens our depth and experience.”
Conteh’s addition finalizes a fascinating collection of talent assembled for the 2019-20 year. He joins Alabama State grad transfer Reginald Gee, international standouts Carlos Paez (Venezuela) and Pavle Djurisic (Montenegro), Texas teammates Jordyn Adams and Devon McCain, Indiana big man Sam Devault and Georgia combo guard Alec Woodard.
