Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department (CPD) K-9 Officer Joseph “Joey” Scruggs was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in front of a room filled with friends and well-wishers. Chief Ansley officiated the ceremony at Police Headquarters.
Officer Scruggs was hired with the Clarksville Police Department, January 1st, 2000, beginning his career in the patrol division.

He was selected to assume the role of a Field Training Officer January 2005.
While acting as a Field Training Officer, he was chosen to be a K-9 Officer in November 2005. He continued in the position as a K-9 Officer until his promotion to Sergeant, Wednesday, May 1st, 2019. Sergeant Scruggs is being assigned as a Night Shift Sergeant in District 1 (North Clarksville)
Sergeant Scrugg’s K-9 partner Solo, recently retired after 7 years of service with Sergeant Scruggs.
