Kennesaw, GA – Sophomore Chase Korte maintained a top-10 spot as Austin Peay State University (APSU) men’s golf closed out its fall campaign at the Pinetree Intercollegiate, Tuesday, October 23rd.

Korte finished with a one-under 215 (70-71-74) for the tournament, leading the Govs with 11 birdies and in par-3 (3.08/hole), par-4 (4.13/hole) and par-5 (4.50/hole) scoring; he also tied for the team lead with 32 pars and an eagle.
Tuesday’s best round for the Governors belonged to junior Austin Lancaster, whose back-nine 33 included birdies on Nos. 10, 11 and 14 and an eagle on the par-5 No. 16, a feat equaled by sophomore Garrett Whitfield. That duo also tied Korte with a team-best 32 pars, with Whitfield finishing 27th (71-76-76—223) and Lancaster 38th (81-74-73—228).
Rounding out the round—and the fall—for the Govs were freshman Micah Knisley (75-71-80—226; 34th) and junior Michael Busse (76-76-77—229; 44th); Knisley was a combined two-under par on Holes No. 10 and 11—the former the fourth-hardest on the course during the tournament—while Busse averaged a front-nine 37 over the last two rounds.
At 884 (292-292-300), the Govs placed fifth overall; Wisconsin (857) won the tournament, with host Kennesaw State (862), Western Kentucky (863) and Mercer (881) joining the Govs in the top-five.
The Pinetree Intercollegiate wraps up the fall schedule for the Governors; Austin Peay is scheduled to return to action February 16th-17th, 2019 at the Invitational at Savannah Harbor in Savannah, Georgia.
