Clarksville, TN – With the start of the 2016-17 school year right around the corner, Austin Peay State University’s (APSU) softball team continues to stockpile talent to the largest in-coming freshman class in the program’s history, with the signing of Victoria Eccleston from Gilbert, AZ.
With the signing of Eccleston, a 5-8 shortstop/outfielder who played for coach Joe Delsante at Campo Verde High School, it brings the total to 11 freshmen signed by coach Shane Showalter for this approaching season and the first player ever signed from the state of Arizona by the Governors.A career .348 hitter for the Coyotes in her four seasons at Campo Verde, Eccleston scored 89 runs, while driving in 44, on 97 hits – including 22 doubles. She also finished with a .437 slugging percentage and a .431 on-base percentage.
Among her athletic honors won were All-Section First-Team as a sophomore, Honorable Mention Division II for Section IV, Honorable Mention All-Tribune and was Campo Verde Gold Glove Award winner as a junior.
In the class room, Eccleston is a 4.0 student, which includes Honors Classes and Advanced Math Classes.
