Bloomington, IN – Winter weather couldn’t dampen the spirits of Austin Peay State University track and field team, which exited the Gladstein Invitational with a handful of exemplary performances put forth by the nine-member contingent that ventured to Indiana.
Topping Austin Peay’s list of high-achievers was senior Kymmalett Ross. The sprinter won the 30-runner 200m dash event with a 24.66 mark to win the event by seven-hundredths of a second. She also placed sixth in Saturday’s 60m dash final with a 7.70 run and now has Austin Peay’s five best times in the 60m this season.Freshmen pole vaulters Dascha Hix and Savannah Amato continue to impress with their week-in, week-out consistency. The duo shared eighth place with Southern Illinois’ Kacy Murphy after posting matching 3.56m (11-08.00) vaults in Friday evening’s competition.
Austin Peay’s full roster is scheduled to make the trip next weekend to Huntington, West Virginia for the Marshall Thundering Herd Invitational.
