Clarksville, TN – Freshman midfielder McKenzie Dixon, of the Austin Peay State University women’s soccer team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
The freshman from Bentonville, Arkansas, came to Austin Peay as a highly-decorated recruit and proved her mettle last week, recording a hat trick in the Lady Govs’ 7-1 drubbing of Western Illinois, Friday, at Morgan Brothers Field, the first by an APSU player since Tatiana Ariza, October 4th, 2013.
Dixon scored three times in three different fashions: her 22nd minute tally came during the pace of play, while she scored off a penalty kick in the 33rd minute and completed the hat trick on a free kick in the 79th minute.Tuesday, Dixon earned her first career adidas®/Ohio Valley Conference Offensive Player of the Week honor, the first for a Lady Gov in 2015 and the first by an Austin Peay offensive player since Ariza for the week of October 8th, 2013.

Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included:
- Sophomore Martin Rejman, of the men’s cross country team, paced the Govs with a 15:36.24 mark in the 5000m run at last weekend’s Powerade Invitational, placing seventh overall.
- Freshman setter Kristen Stucker, of the volleyball team, earned All-Tournament honors at the Scenic City Showdown in Chattanooga last weekend, assisting on 120 of Austin Peay’s 167 total kills. She had her best outing in Austin Peay’s first-ever win against UAB, posting a career-best 47 assists.
- Junior cornerback Roderick Owens, of the football team, had four tackles, two pass break-ups and a 32-yard interception return for the Governors last weekend at Southern Miss.
- Freshmen Claudia Garcia and Lidia Yanes Garcia, of the women’s tennis team, produced an unbeaten singles weekend for APSU tennis at the Skyhawk Invitational, combining for a 6-0 mark that included Claudia’s 3-6, 6-2, 10-7 win against 2014 All-OVC performer Sarah Candeloro of UT Martin.
