She was responsible for planning and organizing all team events and activities, including community service events, recruiting visits and as an academic liaison.

“I am grateful for the opportunity to get to work with Coach Midlick as well as the rest of the staff,” said Turner. “I am excited to get to coach these young ladies and be able to mentor them during their years here at Austin Peay.”

Before Tulsa, Turner worked in private business as a behavioral specialist and youth outreach coordinator. During that time, she remained active in basketball working with the Oklahoma Women’s Basketball Camps each summer from 2007-12.

“Chelsea has character and a personality that rubs off on anyone around her,” said Midlick. “She will be an excellent post coach and recruiter and mentor for our players. She was in the workforce before coming back to coaching and that has given her the maturity, work ethic and attention to detail that I was looking for in an assistant coach.”

Turner’s connection to the Oklahoma athletics program began in 2007 when she was a member of the department’s academic center staff while obtaining her master’s degree. She obtained her master’s degree in human relations in 2009.

A 2007 graduate of Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma, Turner played four seasons for the Aggies women’s basketball team. She played in 104 of 105 games during her four-year career, averaging 6.5 points and 4.0 rebounds while posting an impressive 53.1 field-goal percentage. Turner’s final season at Cameron saw her average 9.8 points and 5.4 rebounds per game. She completed her bachelor’s degree in human ecology in 2007.
