Clarksville, TN – Junior sprinter Kymmalett Ross, of the Austin Peay State University track and field team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
In Austin Peay’s first weekend of indoor competition, Ross stood out by winning 55m and 200m dashes at the MT Christmas Invitational, Saturday, setting personal-bests in both events with a 7.12 in the 55 and a 24.63 in the 200 – the latter being a tenth of a second behind the school record. She also contributed to Austin Peay’s 3:52.52 mark in the 4x400m relay in Murfreesboro, where the Lady Govs came in second to the host Blue Raiders.
The local product from Northwest High School also had a solid day on the track Thursday at the Music City Invite, placing third in the 400m with yet another personal best (56.44) and runner-up in the 60m dash to teammate Erika Adams at 7.68 seconds, just three hundredths of a second behind the school record.The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Tuesday during the academic year. Copies in a Flash, of Clarksville, sponsors the award.
Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included
- Junior center Chris Horton, of the men’s basketball team, posted a double-double at Southern Illinois with a 15-point, 13-rebound effort on 6-of-8 shooting against the Salukis.
- Junior guard Tiasha Gray, of the women’s basketball team, averaged 21.0 points, 7.5 assists, 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 steals to go along with 51.7 percent (15-of-29) shooting from the floor in two games last week, including scoring 23 points in just 26 minutes against Brescia.
