Evansville, IN – For the second consecutive meet, sophomore Daniel Hamm recorded a top-five finish and Austin Peay State University men’s cross country team finished first among Division I teams at the UE Cross Country Invite, at Angel Mounds State Historic Site.
Austin Peay outpaced host Evansville, 89-101, and finished fourth in the overall competition.Hamm claimed fourth place overall, first among Division I competitors, posting a time of 26:13.3 over the eight-kilometer course.
He was followed by sophomores Kyle Harmon (17th, 27:31.8) and Alex Haycraft (20th, 27:52.7). Wrapping up the scoring five for the Govs were sophomore Hunter Guthrie (22nd, 28:13.5) and senior Thomas Owen (26th, 29:02.5).
Also competing for the Governors were sophomore Nathan Sparks (28th, 29:20.0) and freshman Alan Crosby (30th, 29:56.0)
“Daniel ran a really solid race once again,” said head coach Doug Molnar. “Alex ran a personal record today and Thomas gave us an excellent performance. We accomplished several of our team goals today.”
The Governors will have a week away from competition before they open up the postseason, when they compete at the Ohio Valley Conference Championship. The eight-kilometer race will be held at 9:00am, November 1st, at Oxford Lake and Recreation Center in Oxford, Alabama.
