Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s golf team will serve as host to the 16th Annual F&M Bank APSU Intercollegiate, Monday and Tuesday, at the Clarksville Country Club.
The two-day 36-hole event will be played on the 5,974-yard layout. It is the Lady Govs only home event this season. Monday’s round will begin with an 8:00am-9:30am tee time while Tuesday’s final round will open with an 8:30am shotgun start. The public is invited to watch the tournament free of charge. The tournament field will have a strong Ohio Valley Conference flavor. In addition to the Lady Govs, Belmont, Murray State, Tennessee State and Tennessee Tech will be participating along with Indiana Purdue Fort Wayne, Lipscomb and Northern Kentucky.
“We are looking forward to hosting this week,” APSU coach Sara Robson said. “The girls always enjoy playing at home and many of their families will be in town.”
The Lady Govs are seeking to bounce back from a disappointing 11th-place finish at the Chris Banister Golf Classic. They have not won their own event since 2002.
Robson will look to junior Jessica Cathey, a two-time All-Ohio Valley Conference selection, and senior Meghan Mueller, playing her career’s best golf, to pace a young team that also will see two sophomores, Amber Bosworth and Morgan Kauffman, and a freshman, AnnaMichelle Moore, comprise the lineup. The remaining Lady Govs, sophomores Kelsey Schutt and Morgan Gardner and freshmen Anna Pope and Sarah Beth Struble will play as individuals.
“Jessica and Megan will lead us this week and am looking for them to continue to play well,” Robson said. “The girls have been working hard and if they will relax and play confident they will play very well.”
