The HOME program’s flexible guidelines allow individual grantees to design and implement programs targeting a specific housing need or priority.
THDA administers the federally-funded HOME program on behalf of the State of Tennessee. The state’s 10 MSAs receive a separate allocation of HOME funding directly from HUD.
Since 1992, THDA has utilized over $300 million in HOME funds to construct or rehabilitate over 10,500 affordable housing units. Sixty-six percent of THDA’s HOME funding has targeted owner-occupied rehabilitation, of which half benefitted elderly residents.
THDA received $15.25 million in HOME funding for 2012 and received 112 applications requesting over $52 million.
