Clarksville, TN – Austin Peay’s baseball team (1-6) opens its longest homestand of the 2014 campaign when it hosts Eastern Michigan (3-3) in a pair of midweek outings, at 3:30pm both Tuesday and Wednesday.
(Due to inclement weather forecasted, APSU Baseball’s two game series vs. Eastern Michigan now to be doubleheader on Tuesday, starting at 2:30pm)
The Govs are seeking an end to their four-game losing streak which was extended after suffering a three-game series sweep at Baylor last weekend.Eastern Michigan is amidst a 16-game season-opening road trip and a five-game swing through Tennessee, which it opened with a 2-1 series victory against UT Martin last weekend.
Freshman southpaw Levi Primasing will make his first collegiate start, Tuesday, after making two relief appearances this season. Wednesday’s starting pitcher will be determined.
The Govs defense has gotten off to a rough start with 23 errors in the season’s first 7 games (.916 fielding percentage).
This season, Austin Peay was picked to finish 2nd in the OVC’s preseason poll behind defending regular-season champion Tennessee Tech.
The Eagles own a season-opening win at nationally-ranked Clemson.
First baseman Lee Longo has been the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week in each of the first two weeks and leads EMU with a .500 batting average (13-for-26) with a home run and 8 RBI.
