Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University women’s tennis team dropped the doubles point and never recovered, Friday, at the Hillsboro Village Tennis Courts, falling 6-1 to the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders.
The Lady Govs drop to 0-3 in the young 2014 campaign, while Middle Tennessee moved to 3-1. Austin Peay was swept out of the doubles category, 6-2, 6-2 and 6-0 by the Blue Raiders and have yet to pick up a doubles point this season.Freshman Hannah Tatlock was the bright spot for the Lady Govs Friday. The Las Vegas native rallied back from a first-set defeat at the hands of Sarah Sediri to post her first collegiate victory in a 3-6, 6-3, 10-2 win at No. 6 singles.
The rest of the lineup would not be as kind for the Lady Govs, with no one in the one-through-five positions able to force a third set. Senior Andra Cornea and junior Vanessa Tavares dropped identical 6-4, 6-2 matches to Tiffany William and Nayara Moraes at No. 1 and No. 3, respectively, while junior Ornella Di Salvo mirrored their losses with a 6-2, 6-4 loss at No. 2 to Jesse Grace.
