Austin Peay State University Governors Sports - APSUClarksville, TN – The Austin Peay Governors travel to Charleston Illinois for a Saturday afternoon match-up with OVC foe, Eastern Illinois.

This is the 39th meeting between Austin Peay and Eastern Illinois, a pair of Ohio Valley Conference foes, with the Governors holding a 24-14 advantage.

A victory would improve give APSU its first OVC road win and improve them to 2-7 on the road this season.

APSU has won four of the last five meetings. However, the two teams splitting last season’s two contests.

Eastern Illinois won the initial meeting, 77-67, January 17th, but the Governors returned the favor a month later with a 71-64 victory in Charleston.

Austin Peay’s two inside players, Chris Horton and Will Triggs combined for 37 points and 71 percent (15 of 21) shooting against SIUE, Thursday.

Sophomore center Chris Horton recorded his season’s ninth double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds against SIUE.

The Govs shot 52.1 percent (25 of 48) from the floor against SIUE, the 10th time this season APSU has shot 50 percent or better from the field.

With 17 points against SIUE, senior forward Will Triggs now has 990 career points, leaving him 10 shy of 1,000.

Under second-year coach Jay Spoonhour, Eastern Illinois comes in at 5-13 overall and 2-4 in the OVC after its 70-66 home loss to Murray State, Thursday. Guard Reggie Smith scored a career-high 27 points in the loss.

Reggie Smith is averaging a team-leading 13.1 ppg while forward Sherman Blanford comes in at 11.2 ppg and a team-leading 6.4 rpg.
