Clarksville, TN – This morning, Friday, January 10th, 2014 at 7:10am, Clarksville Police Officer Thomas D. Walker responded to a motorist assist on Fort Campbell Boulevard (41A) Near Gate 1.
A burgundy Toyota Corolla driven by Kenneth P. Fornof, a 22 year old from Gleason, TN, was having vehicle issues and broken down in the middle turn lane facing northbound. CPD Officer Walker, assisting the Corolla, parked his vehicle in the middle turn lane facing southbound, nose to nose with the Corolla, with his blue lights activated.
As the two vehicles were waiting for a wrecker, a gray Ford Ranger driven by James B. Hahner, a 56 year old resident of Clarksville, heading northbound, swerved all the way over towards the right lanes of traffic, off the road, and then swerved back onto the road, towards the left lanes, and collided with the rear end of the Corolla, which caused the Corolla to collide with Officer Walker’s vehicle.Both, Mr. Forno in the Corolla and Officer Walker, were seated in their vehicles when the crash occurred. Mr. Forno was transported by Montgomery County EMS to Gateway Medical Center. Fornof had minor injuries to his neck and back.
Officer Walker was complaining about his knee and his supervisor transported him to Gateway Medical Center. He is reported to have a minor knee injury.
The driver of the Ford Range, Mr. Hahner, was cited for reasonable care. Hahner had possible injuries to his chest, due to the seatbelt.
