Sophomore Tiasha Gray is Austin Peay’s scoring leader, averaging 18.3 points per game and has reached double-digits in each of the first three games.
Head coach Carrie Daniels is in her eighth season with a young squad dominated by sophomores and freshmen. The Lady Govs starting lineup has been composed of a senior, junior and three sophomores in the season’s first three games with four freshman seeing significant action off the bench.
Lady Govs Ledger
APSU will play a non-Division I opponent for the second consecutive season, both the result of a late schedule change – it defeated St. Catherine by an 84-62 score last season.
Austin Peay has opened the 2013-14 season by scoring 69 or more points in each of its first three games, something it last accomplished in the 2010-11 season. Friday’s game will be the final outing in a three-game, six-day stretch for APSU.
The Lady Govs current five-game homestand will be its longest since the 2005-06 season when it had a six-game homestand. Austin Peay is a young squad in 2013-14 with five sophomore and five freshman dominating the 13-woman roster.
The Lady Govs’ seven returnees accounted for only 808 of team’s 1700 points scored (47.5 percent). Austin Peay’s 2013-14 schedule features 11 games against nine teams that reached the 2012 postseason, including national runner-up Louisville.
Trojans Tally
A familiar face roams the Trevecca sideline – head coach Gary Van Atta was the head coach at UT Martin from 1996-2004 where he led the Skyhawks to the 1999 OVC regular-season title.
