Clarksville, TN – The weekly Clarksville Parks and Recreation Department Recreation Report provides Clarksvillians with a glimpse at the activities and events that are available from the Parks and Recreation Department for them to enjoy together as a family.
This weeks highlights include: Mayor’s Summer Night Lights, Summer Youth Program, Independence Day Celebration, and Youth Co-Ed Flag Football.
Mayor’s Summer Night Lights
The Kleeman Community Center kicks off Mayor’s Summer Night Lights on June 17th! Families and youth can take on an active role in making their communities safe through this fun-filled program. Dinner will be served each night, DJ, local music artists and motivational speakers weekly.
This program is free, every Monday and Wednesday from 6:00pm to 9:30pm through August 7th.
Summer Youth Program
Summer Youth Program participants and their families can enjoy an outdoor showing of “Happy Feet 2” just for them, on June 21st at Heritage Park!
Summer Youth Program free to youth, ages 6-16. Gyms at various locations are staffed with directors and assistants, who provide activities and instructional classes such as gymnastics and karate.

- Woodlawn Elementary School
- Summit Heights
- Caldwell Lane
- Moore Elementary School – ages 13-16 only
- Northeast Middle School –ages 13-16 only
Independence Day Celebration
Join us as we celebrate our nation’s independence with the sixth annual Independence Day Celebration at a new location! Join us on Tuesday, July 3rd, at Liberty Park for food, fun and entertainment for the entire family. Activities begin at 6:00pm and will include performances by local bands Brio and The Beagles and will conclude with the city’s largest fireworks display set to kick off at 9:30pm!
Guests are encouraged to park at the 7-acre grass area adjacent to the park, located at 1188 Cumberland Drive. Clarksville Transit System will provide free rides to and from the designated parking area beginning at 4:00pm with the last bus departing from Liberty Park at 10:30pm.
Youth Co-Ed Flag Football
Did you miss out on our first Youth Flag Football Clinic? Never fear! A second session will be held for boys and girls ages 5 to 17 at Northeast High School from 8:00am to noon, on July 13th.
The clinic will introduce the fundamentals flag football as participants learn rules, develop skills and make new friends!
Costs $25.00 and includes a shirt, lunch and water bottle. Each clinic participant is also eligible to receive $5.00 off of registration for the Youth Flag Football League set to begin later this summer. Registration for the Youth Flag Football league will take place June 17th through July 19th. Cost is $65.00 per child and includes shirt, medal, flag belt & flags.
