APSU Lady Govs Track and Field’s Chantelle Grey, Breigh Jones make the cut for NCAA East Preliminary

Clarksville, TN – Two Austin Peay State University women’s track and field athletes will represent the Lady Govs at the NCAA East Preliminary Round, May 23rd-25th, in Greensboro, NC, in the NCAA East Preliminary Round hosted by North Carolina.

Senior Chantelle Grey will make a return trip to the regional round in the 800m run. The Missoula, MT, qualified 31st among East region runners in the event after her 2:07.17 run at last weekend’s Georgia Tech Invitational. Grey finished 43rd at last season’s preliminary and looks to build on that experience this year.

Joining Grey will be freshman Breigh Jones in the 400m dash. Her 54.44 at the Georgia Tech Invitational elevated her into the field, making her the first female freshman runner from the Ohio Valley Conference to qualify since Jacksonville State’s Shamira Barrett (200m dash) in 2011. She’s qualified 47th for the event.
