Clarksville Police Captain Craig Gipson graduates FBI National Academy

Clarksville Police DepartmentClarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department Captain Craig Gipson graduated from the 251st Session of prestigious FBI National Academy on December 14th, 2012.

The 251st Session  consisted of 260 men and women from law enforcement agencies from, 49 states, the District of Columbia, 29 International countries, four military organizations, and six federal civilian organizations.

Internationally known for its academic excellence, the National Academy Program, held at the FBI Academy, offered 11 weeks of advanced investigative, management, and fitness training for selected officers having proven records as professionals within their agencies.  On average, these officers have 19 years of law enforcement experience and usually return to their agencies to serve in executive-level positions.

Training for the program was provided by FBI Academy instructional staff, Special Agents, and other staff members holding advanced degrees, many of whom are recognized internationally in their fields of expertise.

Since 1972, Nationally Academy students have been able to earn undergraduate and graduate credits from the University of Virginia due to the accreditation by the university of the many courses offered. A total of 46, 342 graduates now represent the National Academy since it began in July 1935. Of this  number, approximately 28,829 are still active in law enforcement work.

Captain Craig Gipson has been with the Clarksville Police Department for 18 years. He graduated from the Northwestern University, School of Police Staff and Command, in 2007. He is the Commander of the Special Operations Unit.
