That performance earned the Govs a nod in both the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and USA TODAY/ESPN Coaches Poll where they received votes.
The Govs return five of their eight starting defensive players, including second baseman Jordan Hankins, who received Preseason All-America honors from the NCBWA earlier this week. They are among a group of 17 returning letterwinners which will be augmented by nine newcomers.
Austin Peay begins its 2013 slate when it hosts Iowa in a three-game series, starting with a 3:00pm, February 15th contest at Raymond C. Hand Park. Highlighting the Govs schedule are trips to No. 8 Kentucky and No. 13 Mississippi State. The Govs also will face Indiana State, Southern Illinois, Michigan State and Belmont – teams that also received votes in the Collegiate Baseball Preseason Poll.
Season tickets for the Govs 2013 campaign are available for $45.00 each through the Austin Peay Ticket Office. Call 931.221.7761 for more information.
