Shooting Near Austin Peay State University Campus prompts university-wide emergency alert

Clarksville, TNAustin Peay State UniversityAustin Peay State University issued a Urgent Campus Safety Bulletin on October 21st, 2012. It was prompted by a shooting which occurred near the university campus, at the Night Deposit bar located at 404 North Second Street.

The shooter is still at large, and the campus community is urged to use caution if you are on or near campus. The suspect is described as a black male with dreadlocks wearing a white t-shirt.

This notice is being provided because it is the duty of the institution to warn of possible “dangerous conditions” on or near its campus. Members of the university community are encouraged to exercise extra vigilance, acquaint themselves with the locations of emergency phones located throughout the campus, and avail themselves of the escort service provided by Public Safety.
