APSU Sports: Austin Peay Women’s Track and Field
Clarksville, TN – Senior Tanesha Campbell set a school record in the hammer throw for Austin Peay’s outdoor track and field team, Saturday, at Vanderbilt’s Black and Gold Invitational.
Campbell’s school-record hammer mark of 39.83 meters, which was good enough for a top-20 finish, overtook Courtney Jordan’s mark set in 2011.
A prolific thrower for the Lady Govs, Campbell also finished 15th with a 13.24m shot put throw, which was just short of her school-record shot put mark set last week at Coastal Carolina.
The Lady Govs had a three top-10 finishes at Vandy, led by Chantelle Grey’s second-place finish in the 400-meter dash. While Grey’s 55.41 time was not good enough to top Selena Lockridge’s school-record mark of 54.70, it will stand as the fastest APSU time this seson.
Candace Johnson finished eighth in the 200-meter dash at 26.10 while Molly Basch finished seventh in the pole vault with a personal-best 3.21m mark.
