Land Between the Lakes encourages Alternatives to Fenton Boat Launch Area

Land Between the LakesGolden Pond, KY – While the Fenton Boat Launch Area is closed, Land Between The Lakes (LBL) National Recreation Area encourages boaters to substitute Sugar Bay Backcountry Area north of Fenton and Redd Hollow Backcountry Area south of Fenton for boat launching.

There are currently 10 boat ramps on LBL that provide public access to Kentucky Lake–three in Tennessee and seven in Kentucky.  Sugar Bay and Redd Hollow are the closest alternative ramps to Fenton.

For public safety LBL has closed the entire area west on US68/KY80 past Woodlands Trace Scenic Byway (formerly The Trace) to all vehicle, boat, bicycle, and pedestrian traffic until further notice. LBL implemented the closure after the Delta Mariner cargo ship partially collapsed Eggner’s Ferry Bridge over Kentucky Lake/Tennessee River January 26th.

Land Between The Lakes is managed by the Forest Service, U.S. Department of Agriculture, to provide outdoor recreation and environmental education for the public to enjoy.

Additional information is available on LBL’s official website at www.lbl.org, or by calling 1.800.LBL.7077 or 270.924.2000.
