Austin Peay State University Lady GovsClarksville, TN – Austin Peay State University head coach Carrie Daniels spent a great deal of time in the Magnolia State and must have like what she saw, adding a second Mississippi High School standout to her roster with Alexis Hardaway, of Byhalia, MS, signing a national letter of intent.

Hardaway, a 5-10 guard/forward, averaged 10.2 points and 4.9 rebounds last season at H.W. Byers High School, which won the Mississippi Class 1A State championship.

She missed more than half her junior campaign due to an injury, but came up big in the state tournament, scoring 17 points in the semifinal and added 18 points in the championship game. Hardaway was selected and played in the Mississippi High School All-Star game this summer.

“Alexis is a very versatile player that has the ability to cause mismatches at the wing due to her size,” said Lady Govs head coach Carrie Daniels. “She is a winner in every sense of the word, I love that, that’s something you just can’t teach.  She has the potential and talent to be very good in our league.  She’s at her best slashing through the lane, pulling up and elevating above defenders.”

Hardaway received a scouts grade of 83 from ESPN’s HoopGurlz website which noted she “brings a good amount of toughness to the court (and is an) explosive athlete.” She also was ranked among the FILA Mississippi Class of 2012 Top 15 along with Aspirona Gilbert, one of the Lady Govs other early signees.
