Nashville, TN – Austin Peay State University’s volleyball team was unable to get its offense in order, falling to Tennessee State in four sets (17-25, 25-20, 16-25, 20-25) in Ohio Valley Conference action, Friday night, at Kean Hall.
Austin Peay (9-19, 7-10 OVC) saw junior outside hitter Nikki Doyle, its leading hitter, held to just nine kills while recording eight attack errors (0.30 attack percentage). Senior outside hitter Ilyanna Hernandez carried the load, finishing with 15 kills and a .353 attack percentage. However, her 15 kills were more than a third of the Lady Govs 40-kill effort in the match.Tennessee State (16-9, 11-6 OVC) had no trouble with its offense, Shaquita Williams leading the way with 16 kills and a .448 attack percentage. She was one of four players to reach double-digit kill territory as the Lady Tigers scored 59 kills and posted a .296 attack percentage.
Despite the loss, Austin Peay did not see its position in the OVC regular-season race change, remaining one game behind Murray State for the sixth spot. The Lady Govs travel to UT Martin for a 2:00pm, Saturday contest at Skyhawk Fieldhouse.
