Three APSU faculty recognized for their efforts

Austin Peay State UniversityThree faculty members at Austin Peay State University have recent noteworthy accomplishments.

Dr. Jack Deibert, professor of geosciences, has been appointed by Governor Phil Bredesen to serve on the state’s Solid Waste Disposal Control Board of the Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation. The primary function of the Solid Waste Disposal Control Board is to hear appeals of department actions in enforcement and permitting, and to promulgate regulations in hazardous waste, solid waste and Superfund.

Deibert will serve a four-year term and was selected as the representative from the state’s institutions of higher learning. This position requires that the representative be a registered engineer, geologist or land surveyor from the TBR or UT systems. Deibert is a registered geologist.

Dr. Wei Ding and Dr. Yingbing Yu, both assistant professors of computer science and information technology at APSU, co-authored a paper, “Distributed First Stage Detection for Node Capture,” which was recently accepted by the IEEE Globecom 2010 Workshop on Web and Pervasive Security. IEEE Globecom 2010 is a top ranking international conference in the area of computer networks. The workshop will be held December 10th in Miami, FL.
