Clarksville, TN – Clarksville Police Department reports it turned out to be an injured owl’s lucky day.
Captain Scott Thornton, CPD, was headed to work this morning and came across an injured owl on Salem Road. It was sitting in the middle of the road and unable to fly.
As Captain Thornton stopped to try and help, the owl managed to limp its way off the road into the wood line.
Despite the potential danger dealing with a hurt animal, Captain Thornton went into the wood line, picked up the owl which had an injured wing, placed it in a box, and transported it to Dr. Howard’s Animal Hospital, at 11 McClure Street.
Dr. Howard did not hesitate and offered to help. Dr. Howard took the owl to Dover to be to be picked up by a Raptor Rescue in Paris, Tennessee where it will be nursed back to health.
