Clarksville, TN – Junior outfielder Chase Hamilton, of the Austin Peay State University baseball team, has been named the Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week.
Hamilton homered twice in the opening game of Austin Peay’s series against UT Martin, part of a 3-for-4, three-RBI outing that allowed the Govs to take Game 1, 8-3.
He followed that up with a 3-for-5 performance the following day after moving into the clean-up spot in the lineup.
The Arlington, Tennessee, native hit .538 (7-for-13) on the weekend, with two home runs, two doubles, five RBI and four runs scored as the Governors won their fifth consecutive home Ohio Valley Conference series. For the season, Hamilton is hitting .326 with nine home runs and 34 RBI.The Copies in a Flash APSU Athlete of the Week is selected by the APSU Sports Information staff each Wednesday during the academic year. Other notable performances by Austin Peay athletes included
- Freshman catcher Carly Mattson, of the softball team, hit .571 (4-for-7) against Murray State last weekend, including a 3-for-3, three-run, two-RBI outing in the second game of Saturday’s doubleheader that included her season’s fourth home run.
- Junior Chancis Jones, of the track and field team, posted a season-best 5.77m (18’ 11.25”) leap at the Kentucky Relays, finishing third in her final tune-up before this weekend’s OVC Outdoor Championships in Nashville.
